I took my basic training at Lackland Air Force base in Texas and scorpions were plenty. They’re fast too. I hated them.
I also spent time in Az. Same thing.

I spent time at my cousin's house in AZ. It was absolutely beautiful! The houses are built to accommodate the conditions. The only freaky thing I saw was a gecko during my early morning run. Everyone was friendly and the area inviting. I would relocate in a second, were it not for our jobs here. My cousin, on the other hand, has a beautiful spread out there but misses New England. Go figure...

Tylee, you’re absolutely right about it being beautiful, however hot is hot and even though it’s dry h eat, it’s too hot for me. My friend chose to move there and loves it, but hardly goes outside, lol.

BC,
Haven't seen a single scorpion. It does get hot, sometimes 105 degrees in summer, but you don't have humidity to beat the hell out of you. Most everything is air conditioned here. Much slower pace to life here, it's a laid back place. I do have a pool here which makes it nice. Real estate prices a real cheap here, you can buy a really beautiful home for less than $175,000. People are friendly, property is well kept, streets aren't littered. I am really enjoying it here.
OH Yeh, I forgot, no nightly gun fire....

I love that area MT, only being there once, but was impressed with its character. Spent time near the Grand Canyon and Sedona. I was told Sedona is very expensive to buy into. What concerns me is the ongoing drought of the area, especially in CA. Are you experiencing any problems associated with that?

Capt,
I actually went out during a heat wave! Thankfully, my cousin has AC and a pool but it's really a different kind of heat. I went out every morning for a walk (too hot to run) and people would smile and wave. They were so friendly! I actually loved how nice everyone was. Honestly, coming from Logan and landing in Phoenix is like comparing two different worlds The real estate is also markedly different!

Tylee, you described exactly what I experienced. I'd move there in a heartbeat, but as I said, heat is heat and my body can't tolerate it. Having Graves disease may be a contributor, I don’t know.
The people and their courtesy almost made me feel as if I were living in the past, which is great! Most of all I love the Indians and their ways and enjoyed every minute of their culture and many places I visited. I had the best tour guide you could ask for, which was my friends mother who lived there and was extremely knowledgeable.
I want so bad to visit again, but can't fly anymore nor get around to do what I love so much.

Well, here it is 04 March 2016, temperature in mid 90's and I am using my swimming pool. I even had to turn on the air conditioning for a short while today.
I can't believe life could be this nice. Such a slow pace to life here in Yuma. I will never miss snow again ever.

Capt, it was getting so stressful for me in Brockton. Nighty gunshots was the norm. I sold my home for much less than it's value. That's okay , just wanted out. It became so much uncomfortable. I was scared in my own home, not a good situation. Decided I had to leave. Not a favored decision after living in Brockton for forty years. I just needed out,

Very sad and pathetic. I wonder how many others have done the same?
When all the good people leave, there is nothing left but the bad.
As i said...I'm happy for you. I'm happy for anyone who can find peace in
their own home and surroundings. That's the way it SHOULD be.
Even in the days of the wild west, they shot one another in duels or
robbed banks, etc., but they didn't go around shooting innocent people
just for the fun of it.

I moved too. Best move ever. the best thing is being ignorant of the area and people. being in brockton having a very intimate knowledge of comings and goings of dirtbags eclipsed the very good people of brockton. There are Good people they just don't seem to get the attention that the corrupt and criminals do. Sad actually.
Lets remember the champions of the city and not simply that our 60 minutes claim to fame is a disgraced dept head that made national news. brockton can be better. Transparency would help that.
