Mayoral Elections

I understood his comment as sarcasm. His intent, to me, was to say there is some grandstanding by councillors because they know they are on tape.
I didn't take it as sarcasm. But I'm not a supporter. And Carpenter grandstands with the best of them.
It almost isn't fair to judge any of the candidates based on this debate. The whole thing looked so Amateurish.

Whenever she would make statements she would look right at the camera.
It was obvious.

If she wasn't hamming it up, she was looking at her phone; talking in the background so the mike would pick her up until she was spoken to. Its plain rude. Dad, I taped it in case I missed it, will check back on that item.

Hopgood? Might be the first Mayor to get a DUI charge while behind his desk!!!
Tagger? Ya a cinema and sports complex that ought to do it.
Macmillan? worse than reelecting Harrington or Balzotti.

I'll skip the whole Hopgood mess, I just wish I could have done that while listening. But, there was a drinking game based on anytime he said "turn around" or "go ahead and", we'd all have alcohol poisoning.
Tagger could have done a much better job if he answered questions instead of furthering his STP buddies agenda and just attacking the mayor. His last point about carpenters previous campaign was about lowering violent crime and his failure so far to address this, was a good useful attack but it was almost lost after all his other stuff. Kid friendly, theaters, sure, good things. They are ancillary however to bigger things that bring in real money and jobs. Being against the mayor's "home runs" is being anti development and anti business. But, at least he likes social media. I know he was really working to talk slow so as to annunciate every syllable, but speaking more naturally would come off a lot better, and you could say more in your allotted time.
MacMillan is not a very good speaker. He didn't offer much of a plane accept to say he would bring in compani3s similar to the ones that went into ward 7 under his watch. The electric distributor is a good one since there was an empty warehouse there. The focus needs move away from the periphery, and warehouse jobs and crown cleaners do not forward a city in any major way. If your first order upon assuming the role of mayor is to overturn a legal contract and bring AMR back in, first your insane, second how about not opening the city up to more litigation. His attacks on the mayor were much better placed and executed by tagger however.
The mayor aquitted himself well as expected. I'm looking forward to the announcements for the coming years fiscal gains he kept referencing. I think I know some, but not all.
This obviously could have been moderated and structured better, and without the unlistenable 4th candidate, there could have been much more ground covered. I'm glad someone cares enough about the community to want to help, but there are other ways that you can make a meaningful difference. As mentioned here and referenced during the debate, Tagger would have done well to start smaller as he originally intended. Also, to claim he is beholden to no one, yadda yadda yadda, is insulting to the residents. We know who you represent and where you backing comes from.

There is a Brockton Primary Election Candidates' Night to be held on Thursday Sept. 17 at 7:00 PM.
It's Sponsored by: The Brockton Area NAACP and Hosted by:
Temple Beth Emunah 479 Torrey St.,
You can meet Ward councilors and School Committee candidates in informal conversation.
As well as mayoral candidates and city councilor at large candidates .
It appears they'll answer questions from a guest panel. So it doesn't appear it's a formal debate.
