I would think Bill Hogan would be your man for this.

There is a place on Crescent Street behind Comcast, I don't remember the name. They are really good. Tons of comics. And they have collecting supplies like boxes and bags.
Stay away from Newbury comix for comics. They do have a small selection but mostly new stuff and higher priced. They are great for collectibles though.

The only place still around and that has survived is New England Comics... there's one on Crescent in the plaza behind Comcast, as Dave mentions
...but if you're looking to sell what you have, be advised that they are like anyone else running a business... they'll offer you very bottom dollar on what you have
best bet, imo, is to simply scour the internet and see what you have is selling for on Ebay or anyplace else

I really dont have the time or ambition to do it on ebay myself. I know I was told it is rather easy to do. But I am not looking to get wrapped up in a long time consuming project. I did talk to Newbury comics, I am being cautious bc I dont know alot about this stuff and They are inthe business to make $
Johnboy, where is that listing? I would like to take a peek.
and oh my raspberry plants died ;(

You can also get someone to come out to the house and appraise the whole collection to purchase.
But as you have seen on shows like Pawn Stars, you will generally only get half of what they are worth because the buyer will need to hold them to sell them and is buying in order to resell for a profit.
Ebay sales will most likely be to a collector and you can get closer to the actual value of the item.

I had no idea ebay was so complicated though. I have an acct, but have never sold anything on there. I am familiar with how shipping works. I think I will try one or two small items to get the hang of it. see how that goes. But I imagine in the end I will get sick of it and see a local person.
any of you guys sell on ebay?

And another shameless plug, I configured InBrockton to be able to embed eBay auctions.
That way you can put them here also, and share them to Facebook.

kathy, selling on ebay is very easy!... it's not complicated at all... i've been selling and buying for years... in fact, i just listed something this morning... took some photos with phone, sent them to my email, uploaded them through listing process.... took all of 5 minutes

OS I might pick you brain, I know that the teacher last night said You have to do your homework with real cost and how much ebay charges you to list items, bolding type.. etc. You could have bought an item for .25 and ask 9.99 but your listing costs could be 5.00 plus you add in free s&h

it is not difficult at all... the only think you ought to be mindful of is how much your item is worth and what you're willing to either auction off or sell (buy it now) for.
as far as shipping is concerned, i always offer free shipping and account for its cost in the price i'm asking for the item... just makes things simpler in my opinion
and yes, it does cost you to list and sell an item... but it's not that much, and you can figure it into your selling price if you want
this is what i'm selling now.... take a look at the listing, and if you have any questions i'll explain things to you

but listen, i'm sure the guy did a very thorough job... in simple terms, you don't want to be taken advantage of if you don't know the value of what you're selling... you just got to do a little research before you list something, is all
as far as doing the actual listing, it's simple, as i'd mentioned
and if you don't have one already, it's certainly beneficial to set up a PayPal account... that is now the standard with how an item is paid for.... used to be handled with checks, money orders and credit cards- which i believe you can still do... but PayPal does make it easier
