I find it very curious that in a day and age that everyone, and their grandmother, has a cell phone, sightings and pictures of UFO's, puckwuudgies, pterodactyls, etc have not increased.
Light Travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak. <br />We were born with two ears and only one mouth ... Think about it!

Its Conservation land, you can camp on it. I canoed in a few hours and picked a site on the river I liked. Cleared it out, set it up, had a great time. Mosquitos sucked but if you prepare you'll be fine. I went back a few years later and someone was camping in my spot. I wasn't going to camp, just wanted to see if it was still there. I have a friend who lives on River street near the town war memorial park. I would leave my vehicle with him and canoe in. I've canoed all the way to Cedar swamp in Bridgewater/Raynham. Check it out, its pretty cool.

Well...years and years ago, people have said that many evil things have happened there. I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything as of recent, in the years of 2014-2016? I do believe these things have happened, because my friend's father grew up in the Hockomock Swamp and told me some eerie stories, from about 40 years ago of the giant black snakes, monster like creatures, feeling watched by animals, strange lights, voices screaming in the woods, and just an overall eerie feel.
My boyfriend just moved across the street from Lake Nippenicket and we wanted to explore the Hockomock Swamp inside The Bridgewater Triangle ourselves, to see if we found or heard anything. When we went down to Black Mallard Road, we entered the beach like area on the haunted side of Lake Nip (Nippenicket). There were quite a few paths we could've taken to enter Hockomock Swamp. I didn't want to venture in too far, because I'm unfamiliar with the path. My boyfriend, decided to go in and go further than I did, way further. I ended up walking back to where we originally started from, because rumor has it, you can get easily lost in there, if you don't mark your surroundings. He said he came back and felt like something or someone was "watching" him and it was very eerie. We haven't been back inside the swamp entrance since. However, my sister and I do go over to that side of the Nip, to relax. We haven't seen anything as of yet, on that side. On the opposite side, the entrance to the lake, where the boats dock is and houses on the opposite side. Well, one night, we took a drive down the street and sat at an abandoned house, The Keith Homestead Property, that is very well known as an underground railroad that housed slaves, and has a lot of paranormal activity. We've never gotten any vibes from it ourselves. But one night, there were no people or cars on the road that we were on, very quiet and still, we witness lantern looking lights, as if someone grabbed a flashlight and shined it on one particular area. Nobody was out and around. Strange. We also saw the same type of lights outside in the big Maple Tree, right across the street from us, on the lake. We've seen different colored, motionless lights, hovering in the same tree. There have been other incidents where there were a few solid red lights, that moved all in the same direction, toward the back of the lake and disappeared. Mind you, there are no houses or property behind the trees to where the lights were coming from. Strange eh? Sometimes, I'll sit out on my boyfriend's deck, just to check out to see if there's anything going on and some nights no, and other nights are very active. I've heard about lights hovering over the maple trees, right after I've witnessed it. So, I definitely do believe in the paranormal activity that happens there. I'm just wondering if there's been any other incidents or similar incidents to mine, to anyone else in the area? Also, has anyone seen any snakes or dog like creatures? I've heard all this stuff. I've also heard a lot about the Freetown State Forest, and it's a mysterious place I'd love to visit, however, that's about 20 minutes from me. I love the fact that my boyfriend lives right in the heart of the Swamp! I don't have any video, audio, or pictures of these occurrences, but wondering if anyone else has experienced such? Thank you.

Just meant that when someone has such tales to tell it brings about fear, then that fear breeds more fear.mlwhitney83 wrote: Um....kind of lost about what you mean "Fear breeds Fear", unless that's saying that I know nothing about.
Whether true or not, I think all towns have their legends of fear. Some people believe it, others have to test it, but the fear factor will always remain.
I don't know. I'm just rambling, lol.
I do know I wouldn't have a desire to o to such a place by myself even if i didn't believe it.

I grew up in West Bridgewater, spent many a summer camping in the swamp, fishing and hunting it in the fall. I have canoed in from River Street (War Memorial Park, West Bridgewater) all the way to the Nip through Cedar Swamp. I fish regularly at that beach at the Nip and have kayaked all around it. Aside from a few Cranes with unusually long wingspans and a few rusted old Schlitz cans, I have never seen or witnessed anything paranormal. Sure, its dark and scary at night in the swamp but no more than any other swamp. I thought maybe its me, but several of my friends didn't experience anything either. But it is fun to think about it.
