ANOUNCEMENT – FREE food for the taking.
I saw it with my own eyes and it’s a proven fact, you can eat anything you want while shopping.
Parents are passing this down to their children. Eat while you shop is becoming very popular.
On one particular day I witnessed a parent hand each of her children apples, pears and as they were munching on them I saw a woman actually pealing a banana right in front of the stock people. At the check-out a child grabbed for a candy bar. When the parent said no, the child told her “F” you, continued to take the candy bar, open it and started eating it. Not once did the clerk ask for payment. She just shrugged it off.
So, folks, if it works for them, do you think it will work for us? Try it and let me know.
BTW, I looked the woman eating the fruit straight in the eyes with one of my forceful looks of shock and she had no remorse whatsoever. Not an ounce.

I see it all the time and it's disgusting. Imagine all the hands and coughs and who-knows-what that is on that "stolen" food. I also see people dipping into the salad bars with bare hands. Yuck. I will not even try the free samples unless they are being prepared in front of my eyes with hands covered in gloves.

Someone I know works in the produce dept. of a major store and told me that he suggested to one "shopper" that they should pay for the fruit they were eating before biting in. The woman said she didn't have to because she hadn't gone through the register yet. She said that it's not stealing if she doesn't go past the checkout. Interesting piece of twisted logic and it happens a lot. I was in a store and saw a parent passing out individual baked good to their kids to eat while shopping. There's no way to ring those up unless the person tells the cashier which I'm sure rarely happens. I'm also sure there is an interesting rationalization for it from that shopper as well.

bc27204, how very clever to say, She said that it's not stealing if she doesn't go past the checkout. I You can’t beat the intelligence of a crook. They have all the right answers. And check out personnel are told not to have a confrontation with a customer and they know this also.

There is an entitlement by some who feel ingested food doesn't count if a person is hungry. Stores should post signs to deter, require payment if possible, use security cameras. They will always face a tough call, however, if a person really has the need to eat. I do not condone it, enforcement is difficult. Like many other things, the prices of what the rest of us buy reflect the shortages from those who think they are entitled to consume within the confines of the store. Maybe that is why the food retailers do not take a stronger stance.

We all realize stores have a shortage problem, but they sure as hell have the audacity to display rotten food and know well that some people are not smart shoppers who will buy it. What goes through my mind are the people who do this stealing of food do so not even considering the fact that hundreds of hands have touched it and how many have had colds. or serious germs. Yucko!
When we allow small crimes, they multiply and before you know it, there no longer is any control. The criminal not only knows the laws, they know it's too much of a bother to act on it. Just remember....the increase of prices are also partly due to these thieves.
