...and they don't rob convenience stores, they rob taxpayers.

Earlier, one punk shot another punk around DW. And the scariest of all was the "thug" who robbed a small convenience store with an AK-47.
Other than more police on the street I'm at a loss at what can be done. Perhaps a curfew? I do know in all probability an innocent bystander will be shot. It's a war out there. I'd like to hear from the Mayor on this.
For the first time, my family and I, are discussing leaving Brockton. I know it's not perfect everywhere but this is as bad as I remember

We definitly heed more police. But it's more. I feel like the COB is out of control. I know many are fans of Carpenter including the elected officials who post here but when is he going to be asked the tough questions? Balzotti was slammed at the end for her perceived lack of control of crime (among other things). I know it's not all his fault but the City is really reeling. 100 teachers/50 paras being laid off ; I know all about Chapter 70 money but there will be cuts second year in a row. The erosion of Schools has begun. Couple that with a Crime Rate soaring - we are now #2 in MA worst Crime. People will leave especially if schools start going downhill. I Don't pretend to have the answers but I'm not the Mayor. It may be symbolic but maybe now that the "Facebook" threat is over; maybe his Executive Protection could get back out on the street . We certainly need the cops.

I haven't turned on my scanner in ages, but after hearing numerous gun shots night after night I started listening again. It was like the freakin' wild west. Gun shots everywhere and consistent in various areas of the city. One officer called in and yelled, "Gun shots, gun shots being fired!" As he was shouting this you could hear the shots loud and clear. There was a chase that took them into W. Bridgewater with notification to their police. Not knowing their area, the Brockton P.D. couldn't identify any of the streets and were only able to give route numbers.
With all of these gun shots, which were many, they all got away. Some bailed out of their car and was picked up by another car. Sly bastards.
With the 4th of July coming upon us, it's going to be very hard distinguishing fireworks from gun shots. As it is, some people aren't reporting the shots because of this.
If this continues ( and it is bad) I foresee the National Guard as being necessary before more innocent people can harmed or killed. Their wild shooting has already hit homes. One innocent death is one too many! We're not in Afghanistan!
I want to end with a big thank you to our P.D. for risking their lives day in and day out for trying to keep us safe.

The Mayor said that Balzotti was soft on crime and that he would curtail it when he was running It's worse. Though he appears to be trying he has to do more. National Guard maybe? but he should start thinking about a curfew.
That police chase was awful. Lucky that no one got hurt. Those punks ran the city.

Sigh:
Asack said she’s seen more officers on walking beats in the city. She said the city would benefit from more residents getting involved in neighborhood crime watch programs.
“I think more meetings, more people being aware, informed and keeping an eye on what’s going on in their neighborhood (would help),” Asack said.
Councilor-at-large Shaynah Barnes urged city residents and families to hold the shooters accountable by reporting illegal activity and guns they see in their homes and neighborhoods. Police can only do so much to fight crime, said Barnes. “We’re not going to be bullied in our own streets,” Barnes said.
Barnes specifically urged city parents and guardians to watch at-risk children and young adults and to steer them away from committing crime.
“Either you do the right thing and try to get them help through the justice system or they’re going to be the next one with a toe tag (in the morgue),” Barnes said.

I don't quite understand that statement. Is she implying to get help from the justice system for the thug kids? Like get them off the hook???
These gangs outnumber our P.D. with weapons. They have AK-47's and aren't afraid to use them. Bullet proof gear is worthless.

People seem to forget, or maybe they don't realize, that this is a City of 100,000 residents with an understaffed Police force. These very people who bitch about the crime are the first ones to bitch about any industry trying to build in the City. They don't want it. NOT IN MY BACK YARD. That is exactly what the guy said who is running for W6 Councilor about the Solar Fields on N. Quincy ST. What's his name? John Drusinskas? (SP).
