Hot tub? was created by Daisy
I'm doing some homework on the inflatable hot tub. Not fully sold with it due to many factors, cost of dumping 190 gallons every week or two, need temps of 40 degrees or above, slow heating of water, etc. Anyone have one or know someone that does? They run between $ 350 and $ 700.

Take a hot tub bath. It's cheaper, lol.

I don't have a hot tub but when you factor in the cost of water changes, heating the water (I assume there is little insulation) and overall life of an inflatable hot tub, you would probably come out ahead buying a small but permanent hot tub. Plus if you get sick of the permanent one and it's in good working order you could resell it.

You can't fix stupid.

Someone that I know has one and they love it

I was thinking of one myself because you don't need plumbing and wiring

I would love a more permanent one, unfortunately, $$ is factor with electrical upgrades, etc. Plus I can't see spending the money for something to use 30 minutes a day. Capt, you laugh, but I have thought of a jetted tub.

Wish I had a friend to visit from time to time who had one...

Daisy, not laughing at all. An elderly friend just had one of those walk in
tubs installed and loves it. Jets everywhere. heated seat, shower, etc. The works.
She loves it. This one even has different colored lights.
The only problem I foresee is the selling factor. I doubt anyone would be
impressed with it and would instead prefer a standing shower, etc.

Make sure you take water weight into account when deciding where to put it. A 190 Gal hot tub has about 1600 LBS of water

The plan is in a cabana on a concrete pad. You're right John, some people underestimate the weight of water with these kinds of things. Talked with someone in the physical therapy business who has one and loves it! He keeps the water warm and then raises the temperature and turns on the bubbles when in it.

Now for reviews and then pulling the trigger!

Sorry Daisy. Overall, the resale factor would kill you if you chose the walk in tub.
Laughing at you taking a bath, lol.

Issue resolved. I bought on line a "Spa bubble mat". Fits in my tub and it has a jacuzzi effect. Could not be happier!! :) Well worth the investment and money savings from the hot tub or changing over the entire bath tub and enclosure.

That's selfish! You can't invite us over to your bathtub, LOL ;)

I missed this thread the first time around. Glad you found your solution. I have an over-the-edge-of-the-tub version that also works great. I was skeptical at first since it also plugs into the wall - but I am still here!! I'm not so sure the tub for older folks will kill the resale value. We are all aging and, as long as there is another option in the house, this is more in tune with "universal design" of the future.

I guess if there is another tub in the house as well, it would not affect the selling price.
