This is a worthwhile endeavor. However, another non-profit. Of which the COB will be called on to provide services especially in light of the aging clientele. I don't even see any fringe benefits to businesses as there is hardly any in the perimeter.
"Crews have been gutting the inside of the former Temple Beth Emunah building, a place of worship for the Jewish congregation for nearly 45 years in Brockton, ahead of multi-million dollar renovation to transform it into an elder day health center. Citizens Bank announced on Thursday that it is providing a $6.8 million loan to Harbor Health Services to fund the renovation project. Harbor Health Services, a Mattapan-based private nonprofit that administers five community health centers, said it will use the funds to renovate the 479 Torrey St. for a new "Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly" program, which is a Medicare and Medicaid program that helps patients meet their health care needs in the community instead of going to a nursing home."
And the previous facility walks away with profit after not paying taxes. To The COB:
"Since the building's closing as a synagogue, members of Temple Beth Emunah have attended Temple Beth Am in Randolph. The two Jewish congregations have held merger discussions. Now, Temple Beth Am plans to sell its Randolph building and relocate with Temple Beth Emunah, with the property listed on the market for $3.5 million.
