Ambulance Contract?
I'm not partial to any ambulance service. My concern is for them to save my life and they all do that.
Is Brewster going to be able to handle the immense shootings, drug over dosage, etc?

Fire Chief Michael Williams, one of three advisers to the mayor on a recent ambulance contract, was brought before a federal grand jury earlier this month.
FOX25 first reported Tuesday evening that the U.S. Attorney's Office was investigating the ambulance award through a grand jury investigation. Williams confirmed with The Enterprise Wednesday morning that he testified before a grand jury June 5. Williams declined to talk specifically about the investigation and his subpoena, citing the advice of his lawyer. Williams was part of an expert panel that, earlier this year, initially advised Mayor Bill Carpenter to keep American Medical Response as the city's 911 ambulance provider. AMR has been serving Brockton since 1981.
Carpenter eventually decided instead on Brewster Ambulance Service, which is now expected to take over city services on July 1. The decision has outraged AMR workers and supporters, who have been protesting for more than a month. They argue that Carpenter disregarded their superior experience in the city for suspect reasons -- possibly because of campaign donations by Brewster.

It's just all so unnecessary. All he had to do was recuse himself or not appoint a Committee that he wasn't going to listen to. Remember the Committee picked Brewster last, wasn't even close.

But if the review committee did not matter then why is it he has to defer to their recommendations?

Scott wrote: The feds had one phone interview with Williams on June 5th according to Fox25. That's all. That hardly constitutes a Grand Jury investigation. I think it may have been blown up out of proportion by over zealous reporters and supporters of AMR.
LOL Scott
Fox 25 had the phone conversation, not the FEDS.
Fire Chief Michael Williams was one of three city officials to serve on the committee that examined the bids submitted by interested ambulance companies. By phone, Williams confirmed the US attorney subpoenaed him to to testify before a federal grand jury.

Typically when they bring evidence to a grand jury, they think they will get an indictment,” Corrente said, adding that it is not unusual for federal prosecutors to go after local and state corruption, including municipal bidding.
“It’s one of those areas of municipal government that are fertile ground for corruption scandals,” Corrente said.

Was Williams the only one subpoenaed?

@Scott - Carpenter and et al may have been called or still to be called by GJ If they were, I'd assume they wouldn't acknowledge publically.
Over the last couple of weeks I've read newspaper accounts, watched TV reports and read posts on this subject. And a couple of things I noted:
Does anyone know how to spell? I'm not talking about typos. I'm talking about grammatical and spelling errors. Elected officials, want to be elected officials and everyone else. And I'm not referencing folks who post on this site. I before E except after C whether/weather, accept/except. There/their, your/you're
I really don't understand why Carpenter put himself in this position. He didn't have to call the Committee yet he did. Committee makes a recommendation, he allegedly selects the third choice after allegedly going over financial terms with them. Seems like he put himself in the middle of this. And no matter what happens, this has to damage him?
All of the outraged people I wish they would go to the polls and vote their outrage. And I wish they were as outraged that 100 teachers are being laid off and programs being cut. And I hope they direct some of that outrage to the Mayor and SC who allowed it to happen.

Dad, I fully agree about the terrible use of English. I still don't understand what it is about Brocktonians using the word "of" in place of "have". Did the school system actually teach this to them... "I could "of" ? Must be so, because I don't see that being used outside of Brockton.
English teachers must be cringing.
