Cape Verdean Creole for "Proof" this Thursday night entertainment is held in a vacant lot. Anyone go there yet? Does it focus on Cape Verde culture? Seems like an odd spot for this adventure.

Got this from the City website. Would have loved to go to Aug.2nd concert with the "Drifters", but had other plans.

2018 Mayor's Summer Concert Series
Aug 16, 2018 at 06:00 PM

Mayor Bill Carpenter is pleased to announce the line-up for the final 4 concerts of the 2018 Mayor's Summer Concert Series to be held at PROVA at 121 Main Street on Thursday's in the month of August. Admission to all shows is FREE and open to the public. Food from local restaurants and beverages (craft beer, hard ciders, wine, and soft drinks) will be on sale courtesy of Shovel Town Brewery.

The kickoff of the Mayor's Summer Concert Series at PROVA will take place on Thursday August 2nd and feature a double bill of Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Charlie Thomas' Drifters and local summertime favorite The Reminisants as the opening act.

The Drifter's, best known for legendary hits such as "Under the Boardwalk", "This Magic Moment" and "Save the Last Dance for Me", along with lone surviving original member Charlie Thomas who will be fronting the band August 2nd in Brockton, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 1988 alongside The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys and The Supremes.

"The Mayor's Summer Concert Series and PROVA are a match made in heaven." Said Mayor Bill Carpenter, "Our line-up of performers for the remainder of the summer features bands as vibrant and diverse as our community and every act features at least one resident of Brockton. PROVA is the perfect location for local artists to display their talents on stage and for spectators to take it in while enjoying some food and drink."

In addition to Charlie Thomas' Drifters and The Reminisants featuring Brockton's own Jack Colombo on keyboards,Tori Colombo on percussion and Peter Akeke on guitar on August 2nd, the series will continue with Professor Harp on August 9th, The Mudslide R&B Band on August 16th and Tower Hill on August 23rd.

Please follow Mayor Bill Carpenter and City of Brockton on facebook for updates. The next scheduled show is listed below:

Thursday August 16th 6PM - 8PM- Mudslide R&B Band

Not here, either. I like the Shovel Town Brewery in Easton, though. They are sponsoring craft beer at Prova. Nice little place just off the center. Friendly atmosphere, trivia night, and decent snacks to go with their locally flavored beers.

We went and it was quite enjoyable. The food was very good and the music was too. They should make this a permanent fixture in the downtown area.
