Had to think of a subject to get the ball bouncing and liven up this site again. Didn't take me long
City Fix It is more of a farce and feel good site.
I've used it numerous times and have always been told to do their work for them.
A great example is the Trash Transfer Station on Wilder St. Extension. We fought VERY hard to block them from locating there and sadly lost
They have been in violation since day one and are still getting away with doing whatever they want, because no one will pursue it.
City Hall told me it was a police issue and assigned to them and to contact them. The P.D. was unaware it was their job. Call after call after call got me no where. Excuses were....the gates are locked and P.D. have no access. I was then later told it was the trains loading the scrap. Hours are anywhere from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. every single day. Crash, bang, boom and i am partially deaf and can hear it from numerous streets away.with windows closed. Summer is worse with windows open. People have to go to work and can't sleep through this noise. Others, such as myself, have interrupted sleep, if any at all.
I was then told to contact the train station. HELLO! That isn't MY job. I thought that was what City Fix It was all about.
They are passing the buck and I want people to know what a farce this is. I pay my taxes, which pays their salary and they want ME to do their work too?

I follow the issues and sadly, the city and some city groups do have good intentions when improvements are made; suchas, landscaping, planting flowers, but no means to maintain them. One poster on SeeClickFix named Chris does see a lot of need for improvement, whether its a tattered flag, weeds over taking a garden, etc, Its sad, people in the area don't help with maintenance. The city does a one day "Clean Up" day, the way ppl treat the city with trash, carelessly dumping trash, needles is so disrespectful. Clean up day really should be everyday.

Its also obvious that ppl are bailing out; just on Southworth Street alone, 5 houses sprang up for sale after one sold pretty quickly.

Ha - I logged into Facebook over the weekend and the Mayor was taking credit for various streets that are newly paved. I could give him a list of those that are horrible. Why do they fix strips and leave the rest of the road full of holes? We entered Wilder Street Extension on Saturday when when we missed the entrance to Yankee Custom Truck. Speaking of trucks, as we turned around, a very large one was barreling towards us, barely allowing us to do so. I can see the problem they face. Cape Verdean Creole for "Proof" the new Thursday night entertainment, Prova, on the vacant lot downtown is funded by donations, not taxes. I'll start a thread on that.

As for the houses on Southworth, I suspect it's the 300,000 plus cars from West Bridgewater every day that are making them flee. I face it on another nearby street, too. These people who want to avoid the backups on Route 106 are making it impossible for me to safely leave my house. They are fast, aggressive, unfriendly. Go back to your town and use your roads. Values are on the rise. Front to back splits are hovering around $350,000 with ranches slightly lower. Maybe these higher prices will bring in a better crowd, since those prices are not attainable by the EFT crowd.

I wish Belmont Street would be finished soon, I know it is a state project but still. The city must have some say. The road is horrible and I dont know why they lowered the street level like that. Does anyone?

I would think lowering the street level would be detrimental to the pipes being closer to the pavement.

I think so. what will happen with heavy rain and run off? I know this road is costing a lot of money. But the new pavement that is down is not flush and level. Also I hope they put the green left signal onto Manley back up soon.

This is the Big Dig Brockton style

It's only a matter of time that someone, on their way towards Belmont on Linwood, misses the newly created left-curving road and ends up in the McMenamy's building instead. I have mixed feelings on this. I see long lines in the morning and afternoon when school is in session. Bank of America lost a chunk of their parking lot, and now it is difficult to get in/out and around to the drive-up teller. Bad before, I don't see this solving the problems at that intersection.

It's not bad at 6:30 am, but I avoid it at any other time. Lights are up, not operational yet. I wonder how that will work when traffic lined up on Belmont headed to/from Brockton High School mornings and afternoons? I imagine the new intersection will easily block with the rude drivers who only care about their direction. There are 7 sets of lights between Route 24 and Torrey Street (1 mile). It will be impossible to maintain an even flow of traffic while allowing side streets to enter. I see a nightmare ahead. I hope I am wrong.

Today they are putting in curbing in front of the VA. I know there is another layer of pavement that will go down and I hope that it makes the road level. There was a lot of rain that pooled during the rains we had recently. I can just imagine the slush ...

Roads aren’t designed to be level, there is a slight rise in the center and water flows to sides to drainage. There really needs to be a traffic light at Linwood and W. Chestnut.

There’s so many BIG houses being built in the city, a couple on Linwood. Must be money in big! More property tax cash for the city.

As bad as it is, I am not sold on putting another light on West Chestnut. I think it would be better served to require a Brockton residence sticker in order to use it. Joking, of course. The problem is West Bridgewater residents are clogging it up, and I am tired of it. Another light would prevent those of us who live around there to sit even longer, backing West Chestnut up in both directions. Quite frankly, as with Ash and West Chestnut, there is just too much traffic. Cheaper and more effective would be to restrict people exiting those two streets (unless taking a right towards the highway) during peak periods. This would force people to go around, including those headed to WB. There are plenty of side roads that would effectively take the traffic away. And if those residents of the better zip code don't like it, use Route 106 instead.

Potholes? I travel Division Street every school day. The School buses speed up and down while zig zagging to miss the craters in the road. Two people have been killed on the street in the past year!

The end of Market, I think it's called East Market, is bad, too. Not sure why they build a road and leave it to rot.

If they ever do replace a street, people will complain that it's too heavy with traffic because i's the only smooth street around. Lol
