They don't have to pay. There is no penalty if they don't. They haven't paid to date. Why would they? Mayor (with CC approval) raised our taxes and already every elected official is threatening with budget cuts.
"Mayor Bill Carpenter asked for large nonprofits in Brockton to pay 10 to 20 percent of what their tax bills would be for their tax-exempt commercial property and announced the city would soon implement an aggressive plan to get heroin addicts into treatment. "It's time for the large nonprofits, either their multi-million dollar budgets and executives earning six figure incomes, to step up and help us save our schools," Carpenter said in his second inaugural address Monday morning at City Hall. That initiative was part of Carpenter's response to a budget deficit facing the city this year."

Could Brockton create a use tax for property?
One that is only charged if an entity doesn't pay property taxes?
I fear though that this would bankrupt churches while these big nonprofits would just write a check.

I love how the Enterprise pointed out that Former Mayor Balzotti did not attend the Inauguration, again. there was always a prior engagement, lol. When they tried to reach her, she was "out of the office".

I don't blame her, or anyone else who lost a campaign. . She lost a tough battle, doesn't appear to be running again. What's in it for her, or anyone else to show up? I'm not directing this to you more the Enterprise.
