Would we call them the Brockton Red Sox?

Who cares... It would be good marketing for the city.
Sell the stadium cheap with the hitch they need to call it the Brockton Red Sox!

no... it has to have a rocky marciano connotation in it, like 'the brockton red champs' or 'the brockton roxsters' or 'the brockton box of rox'

If a triple A Red Sox farm team were to be located across from the fairgrounds. i wonder if the gaming commission might be a little more favorable towards a casino next door?

People think Brockton is a bad name to sell. Have you been to Pawtucket?

Better mass transit options.
Larger population to draw from regionally, or at least a better central location to a larger population.
International League: Attendance (click column headers to sort)
Team Total Openings Average
Charlotte Knights 669,398 71 9,428
Indianapolis Indians 662,536 71 9,331
Columbus Clippers 622,096 69 9,016

Buffalo Bisons 551,303 67 8,228
Durham Bulls 554,788 71 7,814
Toledo Mud Hens 531,249 69 7,699
Louisville Bats 527,588 70 7,537
[]Pawtucket Red Sox 466,600 71 6,572[/]
Rochester Red Wings 440,360 70 6,291
Norfolk Tides 386,402 67 5,767
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 402,731 70 5,753
Gwinnett Braves 270,336 71 3,808
Syracuse Chiefs 262,408 69 3,803
Campanelli Stadium capacity = 6,000
Pawtucket averaged better than 6,500 people last year. Right in the middle of the road for the International League, and more than our existing stadium can hold.
Add, 4,000 seats to get up to 10,000, and hopefully boost to an average of about 7,500 based on better access. That's a fairly full stadium every night that still allows for the bigger nights when some recouping big leaguer is in town, or other promo nights. Plus the bonus of a paying tenant as opposed to.... well what we have now.
Works even better with my previous pipe dream idea of having the Revs stadium at the fairgrounds since Kraft wants a soccer only stadium. Of course that is most likely going in Boston now....
