New, Sneaky Landlocked Housing in West Bridgewater via Brockton Street
The Mayor is Chair of School Committee. He attends all SC Committee Meetings and he's been at nearly every meeting this year. Beside the fact'he is Chair, it is important he be there as he is a tie breaker on votes.
On Tuesday at a Public SC Meeting, which is televised, the SC voted to layoff 350 Employees, 189 of which are Certified teachers. Mayor Carpenter was nowhere to be found at this meeting. And oh by the way it's Teacher Appreciation week

It is clear however many residents in that area are not in favor of this project.
I think may of the councilors heard loud and clear about the opposition

"The joint venture behind Meadow Woods was expected to have a site plan hearing at the Brockton Planning Board on Tuesday night, but the group requested a continuance and still hopes to begin construction this summer. Meadow Woods LLC pulled out of the planning board hearing after receiving a letter from an attorney serving as special counsel for the city of Brockton in relation to the company's site plan approval application. The letter urged the Brockton Planning Board to reject the Meadow Woods site approval application for the subdivision's roadway plan"
The letter, penned by Concord-based lawyer Mark Bobrowski, states that the Meadow Woods site plan includes property that belongs to the city of Brockton. Bobrowski said that Brockton owns a strip of the property as the result of a land taking in 1893."Therefore, it would be trespass for the applicant to construct a roadway across property it does not own," wrote Bobrowski, in a May 2 letter."
"But former Brockton city solicitor Benjamin Albanese, one of landowners behind the proposed subdivision, said Meadow Woods is not backing down."
"As far as we can see, we're well within our legal rights to be doing what we're doing, and we're not going to be intimidated by angry mobs," Albanese said. ". As far as the issues brought up by Bobrowski, Albanese said that he and others have done research, finding out that the city of Brockton does not technically own the strip of land in question. "The research that we've done shows that the taking for the sewer easement, which occurred in 1893, apparently never got recorded (at the county registry of deeds), and Mass General Laws are very clear about that," Albanese said. "If you don't record an imminent domain taking within 30 days, then it's void."
Albanese also pointed out that the strip of land in question runs four miles, from Pearl Street to Plain Street, under many houses, businesses and driveways. "Now there's a conclusion by outside counsel that the city owns all that land, so we have people trespassing apparently all the way from Pearl Street to Plain Street," Albanese said. "Unless they just want to apply that interpretation at their convenience. ... So there's a few legal issues to iron out."

There are important legal issues to be made by the opposition; only possible when the developers actually finally show up. I assume the Mayor is against this since Bobrowski was hired by COB. I read the complete response; it is solid. Finally, did anyone notice in the Enterprise article that Albanese refers to the concerned abutters as angry mobs? One spirited meeting at the Kennedy School is all he has to judge this but I would say it is a dramatic response to a frustrated developer.
If they think by delaying again until early August that we will forget or back down, they are w-r-o-n-g. It only gives us time to gather more opposing facts.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Albanese is selling Brockton land in that area, reaping his 10% profit as Carpenter's Real Estate Custodian, and also forging ahead with the Petronellis despite calling abutters "angry mobs" because we disagree. Am I the only one who feels there is a conflict of interest ? Mayor Carpenter - I think you should separate from your friend, Bene, and answer our phone calls. Our ward VOTES and this is an election year. I don't care who runs against you, they will get my support.
Next Planning Board meeting is scheduled for August 1 and, if they think we will not be there, they are mistaken. If they think the summer months will distract us, they are stupid. If they cancel again at the last minute, we will not disappear.

Keep up the fight. It's long and hard but until there is a viable candidate to run this city, Carpenter will continue to hold the residents of the COB by its bal**.
This is on tonight's CC Agenda which is televised.
67. Resolve: Be it resolved that the City Council requests that the City of Brockton's Real Estate Custodian Mr. Benjamin Albanese, the City Treasurer Mr. Brophy and the Mayor appear before the Finance Committee to provide a complete listing of what properties have been sold since his appointment; the schedule of the auction hearings (past/current/future); a full listing of properties currently listed as "available"; the amount of money raised/submitted to the general account and any other information pertinent to the information referenced above.
Will, Albanese be there? Carpenter has been out of COB at Meeting. Conveniently, he may not be there either .

There is nothing beneficial to the COB with this development, and is actually detrimental. Would West Bridgewater do it for Brockton? I think not.
Clifton, keep up the good fight. Quality of life for Brockton residents is more important than Albanese making a quick buck. I hope Carpenter thinks of his constituents more than a political donor.

Ha ha - imagine feeling the need to help those who can afford half-million dollar West Bridgewater houses? What a hoot!
Carpenter must choose between a project with lack of revenue for his city and his relationship with Albanese. Conflict of interest is a phrase I keep hearing and I hope he knows this. I am surprised that in an election year he would allow such a large group of voters to dangle like this.

Going to hope for a strong CC but it's leaning Carpenter's way right now with Monaghan, Asack, Lally (who votes w/Carpenter a lot) and Cruise who votes Mayor's way more often than not. One of Carpenter's lackeys is running for CAL, Gary Keith who's lock and step with Carpenter will see if he can pull enough votes.
Just hope Farwell continues to be a thorn in Carpenter's side and perhaps the CC will man up ( and woman) keep the pressure on until there's a viable Candidate.
Keep the Pressure on, fight the good fight and hopefully your group will prevail.

boxerfamily wrote: Who cares how much the houses cost!! They cost a half million or more here now too! This is simple..........land is zoned to be developed...it is developed! Time for people to stop complaining about simple things
You are clueless. The land is not zoned to be developed. It is NOT build-able and it is landlocked, It sits on wetlands governed by the EPA. Clearly you know the developers or maybe you are one of them. I think there is a house waiting for you somewhere near West Chestnut and Ash. I know some people who will sell you theirs for a half million dollars.

Clifton, keep up the good fight. You have all the facts. Let's hope the Conservation Board reviews all the facts and isn't swayed by the almighty Albanese, who believes the COB owes him.
